Hill-Tucker has two membership classes. Active membership is open to any member of the Virginia State Bar. Associate membership is open to law students, law graduates, law professors, out-of-state attorneys who reside in Virginia, and sitting or retired judges in Virginia federal or state courts. Law students join for free.

Active members are voting members and may hold elective or appointive office. Associate members are non-voting and may not serve on the Executive Board. Both classes have full access to events, programming, and member resources.

Dues are payable at the start of each bar year. The early bird rate is available through October 9. Members who have not paid by December 31 may be declared not in good standing. Members who join after January 1 are generally paying dues for the following bar year.

Hill-Tucker holds general body meetings monthly from September through June. There are no meetings in July or August. Members in good standing receive notice of all meetings at least 7 days in advance.

Absolutely. Committees are open to members in good standing. Visit the Leadership & Committees page to learn about each committee and submit an interest form.

Members who have not paid by December 31 may be declared not in good standing by the Treasurer after notice of delinquency. Members not in good standing may be reinstated upon recommendation of the Executive Board.

Once your application is received and your dues are confirmed, a board member will send you an email with login instructions for the Members Area. If you have not received access within a few days of applying, contact us at hilltuckerbar@gmail.com.

Yes. Members who have lapsed can resubmit an application and pay current dues to be reinstated. Reinstatement is subject to review by the Executive Board.
